Sara Lee Rice

Mrs. Sara Lee Scott Rice, 81, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Sunday, October 6, 2013 at AnMed in Anderson, South Carolina. Mrs. Rice was the daughter of the late Harvey Jordan and Lillian Hall Scott.She was married to the late John Allen Rice, Sr.Mrs. Rice was a retired bookkeeper, and faithfully attended Bethel E Baptist Church. Mrs. Rice is survived by a son, John A. Rice, Jr. and his wife, Patsy;one daughter, Gale R. Canales;four grandchildren: Glen Canales (Brooke), Joey Canales (Jenny), Devin Hanna (Ben), and Jamie Rice (Cindy); and 12 great-grandchildren.She also leaves behind two sisters, Joyce Miller (David) and Elaine Hall (Don);a brother, James A. Scott (Ann);and two sister-in-laws, Sarah Dunn and Martha Fleming. In addition to her husband,Mrs. Rice was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Duane Canales; an infant son, Ronald Rice;a sister, Martha Scott; and a brother, Eugene Scott. A service to celebrate Mrs. Rice’s life was held on Tuesday, October 8, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with Rev. Scott Mize officiating.Visitation was Monday evening, October 7, 2013 from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home.Interment followed at Bethlehem United Methodist Church Cemetery.
