Robert K. Gaines

Mr. Robert K. Gaines, Sr., 80, of Elberton, Georgia passed away Saturday, August 10, 2013 at his residence with his family at his side. Mr. Gaines was born August 13, 1932 to the late Kermit and Mary Adams Gaines. He was the husband of Pansey Jones Gaines, having celebrated over 57 years of marriage together.Mr. Gaines worked for over 51 years as a master brick mason until his retirement. He was a good provider, loving husband, and dearly loved home and his family.With only three days before his 81st birthday, Mr. Gaines entered into Heaven’s Gates. In addition to his wife, Pansey Jones Gaines, Mr. Gaines is survived by four children and their spouses: Elaine Carter (Dennis) of Elberton, Kathy Davis (Chuck) of Merritt Island, FL,Tina Hunt (Brian) of Elberton, and Robert K. Gaines, Jr. (Rochelle) of Hartwell.He also leaves behind 11 grandchildren: Kim Scarborough (Brandon), Brittany Carter, Chelsea and Garrett Davis; Holly, Heidi, Heath, and Hanna Hunt; Shelby, Mary Beth, and Brooke Gaines;and four great-grandchildren.He is also survived by a sister, Shirley Robertson of Hartwell.Mr. Gaines was preceded in death by a sister, Dot Harvell. A service to celebrate Mr. Gaines’ life was held on Tuesday, August 13, 2013 at 3:00 p.m. at The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home,with Rev. Paul Paramore and Chaplain Bill Hayes of St. Mary’s Hospice officiating.Visitation was at 1:30 p.m. just prior to the service.Interment followed at Elmhurst Cemetery.
