Nettie Hulme Castellow

Mrs. Nettie Hulme Dorris Castellow, of Stone Mountain, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 16, 2015 at the age of 101.A native of Elbert County, she was the daughter of the late Mell Hulme, Sr. and Ovie Warren Hulme. Mrs. Castellow was a member of Mountain Park First Baptist Church in Stone Mountain, Georgia and was retired from Rich’s after 13 years of employment. Mrs. Castellow was preceded in death by husbands Joseph L. Dorris, Jr. and Jack W. Castellow.She was also preceded in death by her sisters, Lorene Lunsford, Lucy Gunnells, and Hilda Giannoni;and her brothers: Mell Hulme, Jr., Luther Albert Hulme, and Clay W. Hulme. Mrs. Castellow is survived by a son, Joseph M. Dorris; a granddaughter, Juli-rae and her husband, William Reeves; two great-grandchildren, Dana Reeves and Liam Reeves; and a sister, Wenona Ballenger of Elberton. A service to celebrate Mrs. Castellow’s life was held on Saturday, December 19, 2015 at 1:00 p.m. in the Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home with Rev. Gary Purvis officiating. Interment followed at Elmhurst Cemetery. Flowers were graciously accepted, and online condolences may be expressed to the family at www.hicksfuneral.com.
