Mr. Morris Cheney Teasley, 74, formerly of Dewy Rose, Georgia passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2015 at the Northeast Georgia Braselton Hospital. Mr. Teasley was born in Elberton on December 6, 1940, son of the late Thomas Linton and Ila Ayers Teasley. He was the beloved husband of his bride, Jan Borg Teasley, and would have celebrated 45 years of marriage together on December 5th.Mr. Teasley was preceded in death by his brothers, Wilburn Ayers Teasley, Paul Brown Teasley, Merrell Johnson Teasley, and Jimmy Robert Teasley. Mr. Teasley bravely served his country in the United States Marine Corps for 10 years during the Vietnam War.His extraordinary service as a Staff Sergeant was exemplary. The medals he received attested to his brave and valiant efforts on behalf of us all. Mr. Teasley then worked throughout his life as a proprietor and contractor in the building of freezer warehouses for several major companies, primarily in the southeastern United States. Mr. Teasley was a Mason, a Shriner, and a devoted member of Alpharetta Church of God. Mr. Teasley lived his life with courage and dedication every day.His great love for his family and friends, as well as generous help for anyone who needed it, was a testament to his noble character.This great and talented man was dearly loved by all who knew him. In addition to his wife, Jan, Mr. Teasley is survived by his children: Rhonda Wooten and her husband, Wayne, of Ila, Mark Calhoun and his wife, Terrie, of Dacula, Ruth Ann Scarbrough and her husband, Mike, also of Dacula, and Ben Calhoun and his wife, Carrie, of Buford. He also leaves behind five grandchildren: Matt Wooten, Dusty Wooten, Lindsey Hagan, Kellie Calhoun, and Preston Scarbrough;two great-grandsons: Tucker Wooten and Noah Wooten; a brother, Thomas Harlon Teasley of Dewy Rose;his sister, Eleazer T. Miley and her husband, Harry, of Tallahassee, Florida;and several nieces and nephews. A service to celebrate the life of Mr. Morris Teasley was held on Saturday, December 5, 2015 at 2:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home in Elberton, with Rev. John Waters officiating. Mrs. Nell Sheppard offered the eulogy. A time of visitation began at 1:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Interment followed at Liberty Congregational Church Cemetery in Dewy Rose with Military Honors and Masonic Rites.
