Mary Frances Starnes Busby

Mrs. Mary Frances Starnes Busby, age 72, passed away peacefully Monday, December 27, 2021, at Augusta University Medical Center due to her complications from dementia. She was born January 7, 1949 in Lancaster, SC to the late Doris Lee and Quincy Starnes. Mrs. Busby is survived by her husband of 55 years, John W. Busby; her children, John Busby, and Jana (Scott) Moon; and her grandchildren: Ryan (Courtney) Moon, Barron (Julina) Busby, Johna Busby (Bruce Ware), and Kyle Moon. She is also survived by her brother, Dennis (Sandra) Starnes; sisters, Gail Yelton and Susan Anderson; and a host of family and friends. Mrs. Busby was preceded in death by her mother, Doris Lee Starnes Hall; her step-father, Henry Lee Hall; her father, Quincy Valentine Starnes; her brothers, Eddie Starnes and Keith Starnes; and her sister, Judy S. Conner. Mary was a loving wife, mother, maw-maw, and sister. She loved nothing more than her family. She enjoyed keeping busy in her garden, sewing, cooking, spending time with her family. She especially loved her role as maw-maw. She worked several jobs but especially enjoyed her time as owner of Lake Russell One Stop. Mary spent her last few months at the Tignall House Personal Care Home where she was well taken care of by Amy Karamihalis and her staff. We will forever be grateful for the love, compassion, and care she was shown. A graveside service for Mrs. Busby was held on Thursday, December 30, 2021 at 11:00 a.m. at the Bethlehem United Methodist Church with Rev. Andrew Danals officiating. Serving as pallbearers were Ryan Moon, Kyle Moon, Barron Busby, and Bruce Ware. In lieu of flowers, the family requested that all donations in Mrs. Busby’s honor be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements for Mrs. Mary Frances Starnes Busby were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
