Mrs. Mary Ann Beggs, 76, of Elberton, Georgia, went home to be with the Lord on September 11, 2021. Mary Ann was born in Elberton, daughter of the late “Papa” John H. and “Mama” Mary Scarborough.She was preceded in death by her beloved husband of almost 51 years, Jerry Beggs.Mary Ann retired from the Elbert County School System after working as a paraprofessional at Beaverdam Elementary, and later spent her time taking care of her grandchildren. She was a faithful member of Forest Hill Assembly of God Church. Mary Ann loved her family dearly, and she especially enjoyed spending time with her precious grandchildren. She also enjoyed caring for her flowers, cooking for her family, and doing for others. Mary Ann is survived by her son, Tim Beggs and wife, Denise, of Elberton; her daughters: Rebecca Beggs of Elberton, and Elizabeth Bowen and husband, Tommy, of Burlington, NC; and her grandchildren: Kayla and Jake Dove, Christian Aponte, Caleb Beggs, Emily Beggs, Brick Bowen, and Brady Bowen.She also leaves behind a precious great-grandson, Lawson Dove; and siblings: John Tom and Peggy Scarborough, Kenneth and Phyllis Scarborough, Patsy Scarborough, and George Earl and Jean Scarborough along with many nieces and nephews. Services were held on Sunday, September 19th at 2:00 p.m. at Forest Hill Assembly of God Church, with Rev. Jimmy Wilson officiating. A private family interment followed. A time of visitation for family and friends was held on Saturday evening at Hicks Funeral Home. Memorial contributions may be made to the Gideons International at P.O. Box 6211, Elberton, GA 30635, or to T.J. & Friends Foundation at P.O. Box 6161, Elberton, GA 30635. Arrangements for Mrs. Mary Ann Beggs were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
