Louise Cleveland

Mrs. Louise Craig Cleveland, 100 years young, of Athens, Georgia and formerly of Elberton, died peacefully at home on October 11, 2020.Louise was born on September 17, 1920 to the late David Cruickshank and Willie Waldrip Craig. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, A.B. Cleveland. She was also preceded in death by her sister, Christine Ivy, and a brother, Robert Craig. She is survived by her son and daughter-in-law, David Craig Cleveland and Jane Edwards Cleveland; and beloved granddaughter, Stephanie, all of Winterville, Georgia. Louise was a member of the First Baptist Church of Elberton and the Iris Garden Club. She retired from Elberton Memorial Hospital as a nurse in the emergency room. A private family graveside burial was held at Forest Hills Memorial Park where she was laid to rest beside her husband. Instead of waiting for brighter days, the family requested that everyone have a celebration of life every precious day. In lieu of flowers or memorial gifts, the family asked that friends take the time to reach out to someone living in a senior living facility where social isolation can be so detrimental to one’s health and well being. The family wishes to thank the staff of Iris Place, Compassionate Care Hospice, especially Jamie, Tennemah and Rufina, her loving caretaker, Rubie Cunningham and special friends, Val, Tika and Pearl.Their companionship and loving care was very special to Louise and her family. Arrangements for Mrs. Louise Craig Cleveland were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home and Cremation Services, of Elberton, Georgia.
