Mr. James Walter Childers
October 12, 1963 - January 16, 2022
Mr. James Walter Childers, age 58, entered into rest on Sunday, January 16, 2022 following a battle with COVID-19. James had a heart of gold for animals and mankind alike. He never met a stranger and James had countless friends. He loved nature and to cut a rug, but above all he loved his Georgia Bulldogs. He was preceded in death by his father, Larry Walter Childers; and grandparents, Effie Brooks, Clifford Davis, and Zula and Walter Childers. He is survived by his two daughters, Mandy Childers and Christy Childers; mother, Shirley Zimmerman (Larry); ten grandchildren; sisters, Debbie Fekete (Rom) and Peggy Andrews (Allen); partner, Cindy Nash; nieces, Sherry Collins, Terri Standard, Kayla Campbell, and Stacey Seymour; and last but certainly not least- his faithful canine companions, Doodle Bug, Tink, and Maggie. An informal celebration of James’ life took place at 3:00 P.M. Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Hicks Funeral Home where friends and family shared memories and stories of James. The family requested that everyone wear red and black to honor his love of the Bulldogs. Memorials may be directed to the ASPCA or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements for Mr. James Walter Childers were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
