Edith Marian Beckham Gibson

July 4, 1956 - May 5, 2022

Edith Marian Beckham Gibson, age 65, passed away Thursday, May 5, 2022. Marian was proud to have been born on the Fourth of July in 1956 to the late Harold Clark Beckham, Sr. and Edith Ivy Shoebridge Beckham. She was a lover of all living things including children, animals, and flowers. Marian had many children, none of which were her own. Her creative and artistic abilities were seen throughout her home- she enjoyed painting, specifically the American Flag. In addition to her parents, Marian was preceded in death by her brothers and sister, Harold Clark Beckham, Jr., Calvin Delano Beckham, Robert Brian Beckham, and Theresa Lynn Beckham Suttles. She is survived by her brothers and sisters, Richard William Beckham (Kathy Lee) of Winston Salem, North Carolina, Harold Clark Beckham III, Cathy Marie Beckham Seymour (Mike), Ivy Marie Beckham Moon (Doug), all of Elberton, and Melissa Carol Beckham Williams (Warren) of Bowman; and many nieces, nephews, and special friends. A celebration of Marian’s life will take place at 11:00 A.M. Saturday in the chapel of Hick’s Funeral Home with Reverend Jim McCollough officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Marian will be remembered for the generous love and care she showed to others. Her legacy of generosity will continue to live on through her decision to be an organ donor. One organ and tissue donor can save eight lives and improve 75 more lives. Because of Marian’s love for flowers and animals, flowers are appreciated for the service or donations may be directed to the Humane Society of Elbert County.
