Charlotte Martin Blackmon

Charlotte Adel Martin Blackmon, 84, of Elberton, entered into rest on Sunday, September 23, 2012. Born on May 9, 1928 in Elbert County, she was a daughter of the late Jesse Marion and Lottie Patti Berryman Martin.Charlotte was a homemaker. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ Latter Day Saints.In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Robert Taylor Blackmon;daughter,Mary Patti Blackmon Adams;granddaughter,Lori Rena Adams; son,Robert A. Blackmon;and sister, Hazel M. Buchanon. Survivors include her grandchildren: Patricia B. Dutton of Hartwell, Michael (Sara) Blackmon of Braselton, and Joshua Blackmon of Ila.;seven great-grandchildren and one great great-grandchild; siblings: Jane M. Arnold, Jesse M. Martin, Jr., Cecil N. Martin, Elsie M. Thornton,and Connie R. Martin.Several other relatives and friends also survive. The family received friends on Wednesday, September 26, 2012 from 12:00 noon until 1:00 p.m. at Hicks Funeral Home.The funeral service was held at the Chapel of Hicks Funeral home at 1:00 p.m. following the visitation. President Van Rownd officiated. Burial was at Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of one’s choice.
