August 17, 1931 - October 12, 2014
Elizabeth ‘Betsy’ Brown Caldwell, born August 17, 1931 in Elberton, Georgia, passed away at the age of 83 on Sunday, October 12, 2014. Mrs. Caldwell had moved to Roswell, Georgia three years ago after undergoing treatment at Emory University Hospital. She was living happily at Freedom Pointe Roswell when she lost her battle with cancer. Betsy had many hobbies and her favorite was playing bridge in the afternoons with her close knit group of gals. She was devoted to her church in Elberton, The Elberton First United Methodist Church, and had made many lifelong friends there over the years. In addition to her parents, Lucius and Frances Brown, she is preceded in death by her brother, A.L. Brown, Jr., and her husband Charles William “Bill” Caldwell. She is survived by two daughters: Cindy Pickard (Jim) of Roswell, and Fran Phillips (Mike) of Loganville. She also leaves behind two grandchildren as well as great grandchildren. We are forever grateful for the love and care she received at Freedom Pointe. They were and still are considered a part of our family. A graveside service to celebrate Betsy’s life was Saturday morning, October 18, 2014 11:00 a.m. at Forest Hills Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Betsy’s honor to the Winship Cancer Institute at Emory University Hospital, 1365 Clifton Rd NE, Atlanta, GA 30322 or phone (404) 778-1900.
