Barry Eugene Dye

Mr. Barry Eugene Dye, 57, of Elberton, went home to be with the Lord Thursday, April 2, 2020. A native of Elberton, Mr. Dye was the son of Dell Dye and the late Eugene Roscoe Dye. Barry was an active member, teacher and Deacon at Dewy Rose Baptist Church.He was also a member of The Gideons for 28 years.He was involved in the dairy industry for Purina Mills for 34 years.He enjoyed spending time in God’s creation as a hunter and fisherman.He enjoyed cooking for his church family and he loved being with his family.He was a beloved husband, father, brother, son and friend. Survivors include his wife of thirty four years, Joyce Worley Dye; two daughters and son-in-law, Ansley Dye, of Athens and Sydney and Thomas Walters, of Lexington, Kentucky and a grandbaby expected soon; Mother, Dell Dye, of Elberton; brothers and their wives, Brian and Connie Dye, of Huntsville, Alabama, and Brad and Lisa Dye, of Columbus, Georgia; Mary Worley, Mother-in-Law, of Elberton and a host of nieces and nephews.Barry was preceded in death by his Father, Eugene Roscoe Dye of Elberton and Father-in-Law, Charles Lindy Worley. There will be a funeral service in the parking lot of Dewy Rose Baptist Church Monday, April 6, 2020 at 11:00am with Rev. Kenny Martin officiating.Interment will follow in the Fortsonia Community Cemetery with Kyle Brown, Ricky Suttles, David Bowers, Everett Worley, Pete Higginbotham, Cuyler Johnson, Andy Fielding and Stan Penland serving as pallbearers.Nathaniel Dye and Thomas Walters will serve as honorary pallbearers.
