Mr. Andrew "Jack" Anderson

February 16, 1926 - September 7, 2016

Mr. Andrew Jackson “Jack” Anderson, 90, of Elberton, Ga. passed away on Wednesday, September 7, 2016 at Georgia War Veterans Nursing Home in Augusta, Georgia. Mr. Anderson was born on February 16, 1926 in Elberton, Georgia to the late Walton Lester and Macy Burton Anderson. Mr. Anderson served his country in the United States Army during WWII from December 1944 – December 1946 in the Asian Pacific Theatre in the Philippines. He retired from being a truck driver for Ryder on 1986. He was a member of Coldwater United Methodist Church. He loved cattle farming, loved life and had a good sense of humor. He enjoyed playing guitar and ‘making music’ with his brothers, family and friends. Along with his parents, he is preceded in death by his wife of 62 years, Mary “Libby” Ray Anderson; two brothers, Alford and Oscar Anderson, and one sister, Betty Aldrich. He is survived by two daughters: Linda Gerlach (Greg) and Rebecca Anderson; three sons: Andy Anderson (Jeannie), Rick Anderson (Susan), and Steve Anderson; five grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; brothers: Pete Anderson, Buster Anderson, and Gene Anderson; and sisters: Polly Van Buskirk, Lavera Balchin, and Ann Brown. A funeral service to celebrate the life of Mr. Anderson was held on Saturday, Sept. 10th at 12:00 .m. in the Hicks Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Ann Mann and Rev. Nancy Morgan officiating. The family received friends Saturday beginning at 11:00 a.m., just prior to the service. Interment followed in Coldwater United Methodist Church Cemetery with Military Honors. Arrangements for Mr. Andrew Jackson "Jack” Anderson. were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
