William Sanders Gunter

Mr. William Sanders Gunter, Jr., 85, of Carlton, Georgia passed away Tuesday, September 30, 2014, at Nancy Hart Nursing Home with his family at his side. Mr. Gunter was born on October 6, 1928 to the late Janie and William Gunter. Mr. Gunter was a veteran of the United States Army, serving in World War II. He is survived by his wife of 63 years, Libby Gunter; a son: Glenn Gunter and his wife Lisa of Elberton; grandchildren: Abby Temple and her husband Lucas of Comer, and Anna Gunter of Elberton; a great-grandchild: Lily Elizabeth Temple of Comer; a brother: Randal Gunter and his wife Martha (Bay) of Elberton; and sisters: Virginia Bowden of Memphis, TN, Doris Winn of Athens, Carolyn McIntosh of Elberton, and Linda Matthews of Carlton. A service to celebrate Mr. Gunter’s life was held Saturday, October 4, 2014 at 3:00 p.m. at Francis Asbury United Methodist Church. Visitation for family and friends was held at the church beginning at 2:00 p.m. just prior to the service. Interment followed at Carlton City Cemetery.
