Wenona Hulme Ballenger

Mrs. Wenona Hulme Ballenger, 96, a native and former resident of Elberton,Georgia passed away Sunday, January 24, 2016 at Gracemont in Cumming. Mrs. Ballenger was the daughter of the late Mell and Ovie Warren Hulme.She was twice married, first to the late James McCurley, and later to the late John W. Ballenger. Mrs. Ballenger is survived by a daughter, Sylvia Brady and her husband, Jim, of Dawsonville; a son, Emory McCurley and his wife, Donna, of Elberton.She also leaves behind seven grandchildren, twelve great-grandchildren, and one great-great-grandchild. A service to celebrate Mrs. Ballenger’s life was held on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at 12:00 p.m. in The Chapel of Hicks Funeral Home, with Rev. Tim Adams officiating.A time of visitation was on Wednesday evening from 6:00-7:00 p.m., and again on Thursday morning at 11:00 a.m. just prior to the service.Interment followed at Elmhurst Cemetery. Arrangements for Mrs. Wenona Hulme Ballenger were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
