Peggy P. Heard

Peggy Price Heard died Thursday, January 7, 2016 after a brief illness. She was 95. Mrs. Heard was born in Cuthbert, Georgia on December 9, 1920 to Percy Augustus Price of Coleman, Georgia and Agnes Sheffield Price of Arlington, Georgia. She was a graduate of Albany High School and the University of Georgia where she was a member of Chi Omega. In 1941 she married Robert Middleton Heard of Elberton and lived there for the past 75 years. Mrs. Heard was predeceased by her parents, her husband, and her son, John Heard. She is survived by her daughter, Peggy Heard Galis and her husband Denny of Athens; her grandsons, Anthony Middleton Galis (Jana) and Charles Heard Galis; and her great- grandchildren, Isabelle and Boone. Visitation was held on Sunday, January 10, 2016 from 2:00-3:30 p.m. at 357 Heard Street, the home of Mr. and Mrs. Asbury Latimer Heard, and a graveside service followed at 4:00 p.m. in Elmhurst Cemetery. Memorials in Mrs. Heard’s memory may be made to the Robert Middleton Heard and Peggy Price Heard Endowment, Elbert Memorial Hospital Foundation, 4 Medical Drive, Elberton, Georgia 30635. Arrangements for Peggy Price Heard were in the care of Hicks Funeral Home & Cremation Services of Elberton.
