Florie Rozier Harden

Mrs. Florie Rozier Harden, 81, of Blackshear, passed away Wednesday evening, January 13, 2016 at her daughter's residence in Jacksonville. Born in the Hickox community of Brantley County on August 31, 1934, she had lived in Pierce County since 2000.Mrs. Harden was a homemaker and enjoyed cooking, gardening and crafts including woodworking.She was an avid reader, loved blue grass music and spent the last twenty years traveling with her husband in the RV.Together they enjoyed square dancing and meeting new people through their travels.Mrs. Harden attended Blackshear First United Methodist Church and will be remembered as a loving wife, mother and grandmother. She was a daughter of the late Hubert W. and Teddia Bell Howe Rozier.She was also preceded in death by a son-in-law, Keith C. Shaw; grandson, Chris Harden and two sisters, Virginia Thrift and Willamina Highsmith. Survivors include her husband of 63 years, Louis E. Harden, Sr. of Blackshear; her daughter, Susan A. Shaw of Jacksonville; two sons, Louis E. (Sydonna) Harden, Jr. of Elberton and Craig L. (Susan) Harden of Brunswick; a sister, Emily Jean (E.B.) Herrin of St. Marys; 4 grandchildren, Catherine (Joseph) Tackitt, Steven C. (Christie) Harden, Kelly H. Varn and Mabry D. Harden; 2 great grandchildren and several nieces, nephews and other relatives. A Memorial Service for Mrs. Harden was held on Monday morning, January 18, 2016 at 11:00am from the Pearson-Dial Funeral Home Chapel.Memorialization was by cremation.The family received friends at the funeral home prior to the service.
